Mind Matters

I wrote an article in the July issue of Southwest FL Parent & Child magazine( http://swflparentchild.com) based loosely on Holland's six personality types and how parents can help to guide their children's career path by observing these differences when their children are in elementary school.

It seems that since I self published "You're Not the Boss of Me: Empowerment Strategies for an Imperfect Workplace" last fall, I am seeing more and more in the news about both school and workplace bullies. I am delighted that my monograph is listed at www.badbossology.com

In a column in today's Fort Myers News-Press, a psychologist described how demeaned he felt when a nurse at his doctor's office called him "dearie." I disagree with his assumption that he became a non-person to her. I think it is more a matter of linguistics. Women of a "certain age" (particularly in the South) oftentimes slip in these endearments without, I'd guess, even realizing they are doing it. I doubt they mean any disrespect. http://news-press.com
